THE COMMERCE AND ACCOUNTING DIPLOMA
Lemania College offers a commerce and accounting certificate and diploma focused on the demands of the professional market. The commerce certificate can be obtained in two terms. Students can opt to study for a further two terms to obtain the commerce diploma.
The commerce and accounting programme is intensive. The course places particular emphasis on accounting – an important skill that is key to success in many career paths.
The commerce and accounting diploma is recognised by the Groupement Suisse des Ecoles de Commerce (GEC).
You can also study an optional second language to brush up your language skills.
To take the commerce programme at Lemania College, you must be at least 18 years of age at the end of the course.
To pass the commerce and accounting diploma programme and receive your qualification, you will need to obtain an average pass mark.
You can enrol on the commerce and accounting diploma twice a year, in April and October.
The programme lasts for one year (36 weeks of lessons),
with 35 periods per week: 25 periods of commerce classes and 10 periods of English classes (English being an essential professional skill in today’s workplace).
Terms 1 and 2: Preparation for the Lemania College commerce and accounting certificate.
This examination will help you gauge your progress towards the school’s requirements. You will need to study for two terms to obtain the commerce certificate.
Terms 3 and 4: In these terms, you will study towards the commerce and accounting diploma.
The classes will deepen and expand your knowledge and are more intensive in nature. You will need to study for two terms to obtain the commerce and accounting diploma.
Accounting diploma: 25 periods per week (mornings only). The programme leads to the award of an accounting diploma (no foreign languages).
All classes on the commerce and accounting diploma programme are divided into two ability levels: beginner and advanced.
This means the programme is suitable for everyone and meets the needs of all pupils in the majority of the subjects.
Moreover, this system helps pupils make rapid progress.
During the first three months of the commerce and accounting diploma programme, you will be assessed to identify your strengths and the areas you need to improve in quickly. The formal grading system only commences after the first three months of the programme, following the first end-of-term exam.
The interdisciplinary approach is designed to help you apply the knowledge you have learned in a practical situation, so that you meet the requirements of the commerce and accounting diploma.

With the Commerce and Accounting Diploma, you can move directly into the job market or continue further study, for example at a specialist school such as the School of Management and Communication (ESM) in Geneva, or a hospitality school.
